When you bought the car did someone point to a number that matched the paperwork? They used to use engine numbers but the DMV's are getting away from that. There may be a tag installed by the DMV on the door jam.

Roadster top supports, which are frequently called grab handles because they is what they are often used for, support the roadster top and keep it off of the paint when the top is folded down. They are not "correct" as something that came from the factory on a coupe but frequently installed to be used as grab handles when getting in and out off the rumble seat.
