Um, could you just flip the piece over? You might have to re-countersink some screw holes? (I really don't know about this. From the photos it just seems logical.)

Pete, thats what we thought as well and did try, but its not working due to the metal frame pressed into a certain shape, its not flat. Also the pin for winding handle faces the wrong way!
