Default Which goes first......

A good friend of mine is re-assembling his long delayed Model A project and he asked me a question I cannot answer. But I know where I can get an answer! He is to the point of installing the gas tank and the windshield assembly. Which should he install first or does it matter? It is a '31 Tudor if that matters.

Thanks for your help.

I agree, you need to have the gas tank in place to take the weight of the windshield while you install it. Cover the gas tank with something thick to protect it (I have an old el-cheapo sleeping bag I use for things like this, but be careful of the zipper!) then use some wood blocks to hold the weight of the windshield while you line up and screw in the hinge.

Installing the windshield is definitely a two- or three-person job. Gas tank you can get by with two.

Thank you. That looked to me to be the reasonable path to take but you folks have the experience.

Back when, worked on them all, from the early ones w/water pumps in the head, up to and including the early '50s ones w/the top mounted distributor.
