I would recommend Fordwood.com and Classic Wood Manufacturing. I have used both and am very satisfied.

Another thought or two to ponder. Did you know that every print for that top wood is available at Benson? In the world of CAD, CAM, CNC being so economical and user-friendly these days, i wonder why we settle for 'incorrect'?? ![]() ![]() . . |

I tried to do business with Ford wood twice in the last year and have given up after my emails and messages went unanswered for weeks. I finally did get a call back but I believe what starts bad ends bad. I called Steve at Berts and had my wood pieces in a few days. It only takes a minute to respond to an email.

I did receive the new header. I am not been able to work on my Model A as the temperature up here is running in the negative numbers for wind chill. The garage is at 42. It would take a great deal of energy to warm up the garage to a point where I could work on the car. It is horribly cold to the touch.
I will get back to work when the temperatures warm up!!! (Yes! I am a wimp!!) |

In this case, yes. In communications with companies that I deal with, when I find a company that is actually wanting to help me with a problem, it is a company that I want to work with. I have had issues where a company essentially told me to take it or leave it.
So, in the Model A restoration hobby, when I stumble across a company that wants to help me with a problem, I consider this company good and worth of support. I had some problems with the ribs that I ordered from Fordwood, but they have gone out of their way to help with this issue and try to figure out a way to make things work. This included a full and complete return of my money!! I can make the ribs work with a small amount of rework. No issue. Classic Wood Manufacturing is much closer and I got my header, well packaged, in just a couple of days. Great company, they notified me immediately that they had the part I wanted in stock. Great customer service. That is why I say these companies are worth consideration. |

Who knows, it may happen in the future. I will say that from my position, the ROI just does not appear to be there, -and likely never will be. And, it is not like I am keeping something from the hobby. The plans/info they need is already out there, all I would be doing is making it easier and cheaper for someone to obtain that info. |
