Yes it can be repaired and i would suggest taking it to a machine shop that can magnaflux and pressure test block.
Model B's are more prone to cracking.

Lock n Stitch is in Turlock,CA and can do the above mentioned repairs.

If you were on our side of the country it's a relatively frequent repair.
