Default 28 coupe shoulder upholstery panels

I am about to install the upholstery in my 28 special coupe. I have attached a picture of the shoulder panels below. My question is: There is a metal brace that runs at a diagonal installed near where the back edge of shoulder panels fit. Are there screws used to secure the back edge of the shoulder panels to the metal braces? There are two holes in each of the metal braces and I am wondering if they are for upholstery fastening screws. I know I need to nail the panel along the latch side of the door post and the top side along the belt rail wood, but is that all the fastening needed?

BTW, what is the best size brads (gauge and length) to use for fastening the upholstery panels to the wood? None came with the kit.
Thanks for any help.
