I have this NOS shelf worn Sparton Horn Model J17. – notable from the original decal. It came in a original box with the 91A-13833 scratched out (line through it). While it may look like a 39 Ford, research suggests that is may be a large truck horn that served many different manufacturers.
The data also suggests that the J17 was heavily used in WWII jeeps and other such equipment, but using the short squat flute. This one is the long slender flute.. The research suggests that it is a “Jobber” aftermarket item based on the universal mounts (and no bracket) and the single screwed set terminal. I have not yet tested it. The data says that if I do, the horn will be very loud. Any horn experts out there? Would this have been used on the 39, or is the 39 only the V model? |
