Nice relaxing day today,
The gearbox had been hard to get out of 1st gear when first starting off in the morning, but got easy when warm. So this morning I thought I had better check the oil level in it,thinking it may be down, but after crawling under it before starting this morning, it was still full, but as we are now back into Queensland and warmer weather it was fine, We headed off from Mitchell around 8-30 , filled up and headed off on another back road, I have been on this before ,both in my 33 and model A so was a pleasant drive, we stopped at another explorers campsite and had a walk around,so very peaceful way off the beaten track, had to open a gate or two but nice drive in to the campsite used in 1846. Back on the road as usual stopped for smoko and biscuits, well one each as we are putting on weight from the high life The road sign has some unusual place names.and the food indicaters show how high the water gets. Later two caravans passed us as we were only putting along at 45mph, At the next small town we stopped to use the toilets and fueled up, fuel used worked out at 12.6 lots/100 ks. We rang ahead to book accommodation and got what was called a suite. Turned court to be OK but we can’t hear ourselves talk above the A/C This allowed us a bit of leeway so took another side road off the direct route, through the Arcadia valley, very picturesque and, interesting countryside. The road formations are supposed to be 250 million years old. We saw the little lizard sunning himself at a lookout. At the Rolleston where we’re stopped for the night , who should we see ,the two caravans who passed us on the back road earlier, they sure were surprised and told us we were only 15 minutes behind them, Tomorrow we are not sure which way to go as neither of us need to be home straight away.
