48-50 F1 wiring question

Hey gang I have a buddy that picked up a 48 F1 project. It has a new factory style wiring harness that was installed prior.The truck has a constant draw on the battery. So I started disconnecting things to find the draw,and found that the field wire on the generator/voltage regulator has battery voltage all the time which doesn't seem correct? He had the generator checked at a shop and is good,also new voltage regulator. So where would the power on the field wire be coming from?
