Default Transmission case repair

I had a 1931 gearbox housing with a worn down cluster gear boss. I made a grinding/lapping tool to grind the surface flat and smooth again. I ground the boss back to accept a 1928 thrust washer. Henry skipped those and made the bosses taller at the end of 1928 to cut on cost. Luckily these washers are still available. I worked to get a cluster gear end play of .005” - .017” as per Van Pelt’s Transmission Book. I glued sand paper onto the lapping tool, one on each side, started with 60 grid, followed by 80 and finished with 120. I made a little video to show the details.
