Default darn old worn out junk!!!

i should link this to my earlier thread entitled" this darn old car', i will when i get a minute. but, to make a long story longer, i want to put together a rear end for the beater 34 tudor i got last year. just trying to make it usable for now. the previous owner thought it was ok to install a rear end that he found in a ditch some where, and since the u joint end was full of dirt, you only need to put it together minus a few parts, like speedo gear, and it fit just fine! i discovered this because the "good motor" was bad. so...i thought i was a cool guy and had plenty of inventory to build a good rearend so she would be a driver next spring. i have now torn down 4 rears, and so far, one usable drive shaft, one carrier and spider gears, the rest is junk. the last one "came out of a restored car", well, it did have some remains of paint, but water inside killed it. they cant lay out on the ground for 30 years! that one does have very good brake drums, but since the moisture ruined the races on the housing, i presume the races in the hubs will not look too good either. i know we can put new races on the housing, but is there a repair for the hubs? 32-36 takes a bigger bearing od, so a sleave? so far no usable ring&pinion, havnt pressed out any pinions yet, but i dont think there will be any of the double cone bearings either. got 2 axles with good tapers and keyways, but pitted gears. they may be usable. again, i am just trying to put a driver together, i find it hard to believe i need to put a thousand dollars in a rear end! no around the world trips planned, but geez one bad flaking pitted part will wreck all the other new stuff in short order. i hate to do things half way like that! got 2 worn out trannys laying in pile for the coupe now too, waiting for mac vp to get back to work ....worn out stuff every where, here...i need a beer...
