Default What are these parts suppose to do?

The two parts shown in the photo were taken off an early 1930 Cabriolet. They were on the inside of the cowl, one on each side. There was a nut attaching the parts to the bolts that secure the cowl lacing into the recess areas on each side of the cowl. We are speculating that they may have something to do with the kick panels or possibly a wiring harness. We have straightened them some because they were both bent up pretty bad. We would like to find out what the parts were suppose to do and possibly a photo to show the correct shape.
Thanks
