Although I have a trunk measured to fit on top the slats, I prefer era luggage. Bottom suitcase is bolted to the luggage frame but it gives you a good idea the purpose of the slats when used as a luggage rack. If not being using then by all means, show it with slats in the upright position for decoration....IMO.
