37--21stud aluminum rear seal

Hi guys, I'm sure one of you guys know the answer. I just acquired a 37 21stud, it was all stripped except the aluminum rear seal in the block, after digging through all the parts I found the main bearing caps, there was no aluminum rear seal in the cap, There is quite gap in the rear of that cap but I don't think an aluminum seal belongs in the 37 rear main, can any one answer for sure?
