Yes rabbit holes is great for learn.
This cars can be built in many ways so I like look into them, and if one rabbit hole not fit my ideas I can leave but good deal is one has learn something.
The friction shock you show is what came up on how McGee did it and new ones is now made.
Not a bad idea on a 32/34 axle but ’modern’ shocks is better.

Great to see Bored&Stroked design in front of axle..

Mine looks similar to those, but not as artsy. The top mounting required bending the lip on the crossmember up flat for clearance. The angle of my shocks is probably a little flatter than optimal, because my sedan is lowered and I don’t have room to take them up higher.

That setup would put the shock behind the axle . . . which is where all the troubles lie! LOL

Mine fits. I even use the shocks with covers. Mine were from Chassis Engineering a couple decades ago, and I think they were a part number that was supposed originally from a Vette. But I don’t know what year.
