What are some of the counter intuitive things you have learned about a Model A?

I added "22)" for non-standard fasteners that I found on my Model A.

I added "23)" for shocks.

I have a rattle that has driven me nuts, it comes and goes Every time I get serious about trying to find it it is strangely gone. I've gotten used to it and now consider it an old friend. I now figure it is me that's got a screw loose somewhere.

When crank starting a Model A, don't wrap your thumb around the handle, rather cup it on the same side as your other fingers and only pull up on the crank. Otherwise, if you've forgotten to set the spark lever correctly and it backfires, the crank can easily either break your thumb or swing back around to break your wrist or arm.

That's excellent advice. I tried to update "7)" above in the first post, but it looks like that post is too old to let me edit it.

Well, to begin with, welcome to Fordbarn!

Next, -are you working on a Town Car, or a Town Sedan?

And 3rd, the video is going to be misleading because it is totally different bodystyle.

The basic nutshell of what you will need to do is remove the Firewall Filler panel located under the Gas Tank portion of the Firewall and the lower cowl section. Then remove all of the fasteners that are attaching the tank to the upper section of the body. At that point, the Gas Tank drops down from the body and comes out from the bottom. If you still have questions, consider starting a totally new thread and I can walk you thru it in even more detail.
