I always thought the main ground to the engine was through the rear motor mount bolts. Not so?

Thats another one... there are more ground points than what most think, without the splash shields being in the equation..

Maybe I should have said that I've seen many people run an extra ground wire for the last 40 years, and I have. The original set up with engine pans provides a shorter path back to the battery. Otherwise, the majority may have to travel back through the drivetrain to the rear end and up through the spring and on through the frame to get back to the ground cable.
I just ran mine from the back of the engine block to the frame making sure I cleaned both contacts very well.

I have so far replaced all the wiring in the car except for I have not finished running the tail light wire yet.

I do not want to have any kind of trouble with fire or anything in my car because it means so much to me! Therefore that is another reason I ran the other ground wire because I was getting some sparks from my starter button and somebody told me it is a bad ground and to run the wire as I did.

As I get time I will basically disassemble the car and clean everything little by little to make sure it is running and driving in tiptop shape but I will not be doing any restoring or painting of any kind because it looks super cool and it is in very very good shape so it does not need it in my mind.
Unfortunately the radiator is too far gone and I had to put a aftermarket aluminum on because I could not forward the $800 one from brass works right now but I plan to possibly put one in it in the future and I did put a modern style distributor cap and wires on because I am going to be driving the car probably every other day for work in all weekend every weekend and I would like it more reliable. There is a big car show like I said earlier in the thread I believe it is the last week of January so I am really busting it to try to make it to that. Now that it is running good I just need to put the new brakes back on it and put the seats back in it and insure and register and she should be good to go.

Nope, not always, nor are ANY of the mentioned ground paths if there is any interference caused by paint, rubber, wood or rust; mainly paint, nowadays.

I watched your video sounds pretty good. may be missing a little and that moisture around the head may be suspect of a head gasket that needs replacement. If you do a head gasket get a head stud kit. Half the time of my head gasket job was drilling out and tapping threads on the rear most drivers side head stud. The bolts looked decent but where it broke there was a ring of black an 1/8 inch into the stud diameter. a very time consuming mistake that was remedied by a 20$ stud kit.

also good choice with the wiring. My car was saved by my uncle when the wire that goes to the dome light was bare and made contact near the rear view mirror. he smelled smoke and the cotton was burning under the top.

Your car has the Canadian powerhouse on it. Your lower water pipe is the 30-1 style, but if it had the correct 28-9 style it would line up better at the bottom radiator outlet.

Yeah someone had purchased a few parts for it and I just put that lower pipe on for now so I could at least drive it for a bit. I was planning on getting the correct one when I go to the next swap meet in a few months and see the guy from battlefield.

Thank you for the info! I am hoping I get to at least drive it for a few months before I have to pull the head off of it and put a new gasket on it and I was going to do head studs as well.
A few people have told me that is a great idea.

Try some aluma-seal stop leak before you worry too much about replacing the head gasket. Most gaskets seep some from the filler material unless prepped during initial install.

I don't pull heads and don't replace head studs unless there is good reason to. You could wind up with broken studs, where they may have been perfectly OK to keep using them.

Listen to these guys who supplied you with good info:::
I just had an oldie original in the shop with a seep similar to yours.. i retorqued the head nuts and WALLA it was gone... i look at it this way... if a stud snapped doing the retorque then it was needed anyways so no biggie... it usually works out going the common sense route.

I'll spray some Kroil on the nuts and try to re-torque them.
Let you know how it goes... ha ha

I did however get it running great over the past couple days and finally figured out where the mixture needs to be on the carburetor and was able to take it around the block in my neighborhood three laps today! Which put a large smile on my face obviously!
