Yes, I agree. The world has gone to hell in a basket. We can't trust people like we used to.

At $3,000, I'd buy it, drive it, take my time investing in anything other than changing fluids, tires as they fail and keep driving it and then drive it some more.

That's my approach too. Repair, not restore.
That said, I have no issue with those who sometimes go to great lengths to restore a car back to how it was in the showroom. I've done it myself (not Model A) but I find I enjoy driving the repaired car more than worrying about scratches etc.
