T,
Pull the stand and pump off as an assembly. Remove the pushrod and look at both ends. The ends should be shiney and not torn up....the length should be 8 7/8" if you have an iron intake or 7 7/8 if you have an alum intake. Usually the pump is kaput, worn out arm, rotted or partially rotted diaphragm. With everything reassembled but the stand NOT attached to the intake and the pushrod in it's highest position you should have a .200 gap bet- ween the bottom of the stand and intake using a very slight pressure to take up any slack in the pump linkage. Any ????? call me at 716 440 8952. Charlie ny |

Thanks for info just getting started on project and wanted to hear engine run before starting restoration. Just purchased car 1 week ago am converting to 12v system as previous owner had already done all the bulbs. Having starter done now.Already has late model GM alternator in place of generator. Not sure about ignition system feed or distributor. Have prior experience with late 50s thru 80s electrical and carburetor systems.
