Default Question ,, chassis difference and worth

I have a question regarding the difference between a 1928 and 1931 chassis as well as a cost/worth of a well rusted 1928 chassis[ right hand e-brake, engine turns over, steering and wheels don't] with a rotten front spring mount, rear radius arms and missing steering box..

I guess I'm also asking how hard it is to mount a 31 body on a 28 frame..

The piece that will stop you is the front cross member. The radiator mounts are higher on the 28-29 to suit the shorter radiator. If you mount a 30-31 radiator on the earlier chassis, it will sit higher than the rest of the body.

Front crossmember as mentioned above and possibly with some 31 bodies the cowl mounting hole locations are different. I am sure someone that is more familure with those changes will chime in. Depending on the condition of the front crossmember with the solid motor mount someone may trade you straight across for a usable 30-31 front crossmember. If I remember correctly there was a slight change in rivit locations some time during production that may make this change alittle more work. Rod

I just paid $600 for a chassis that sounds a lot like yours, but with a few more usefull parts. I think I paid too much by about $200, but I am hoping the engine will run, which would make me feel better, and I like to tinker. Deep pits in frames and other componants make this heavy iron in my eyes, and worth scrap rate. Hate to be a Debbie-downer, but it is what it is.
