Default dual carbs, aluminum heads for 46 flattie

OK experts, what's your opinion for putting on Offy heads and dual intake for dress. Not trying to build for Hi-Perf just nice running good looking flathead in a 46 Ford. Will I spend most of my time adjusting carbs vs driving?? Aluminum heads of stock compression ratio present any problems? Stock Ford carbs run fine? Thanks!!

I'm no expert, but if you were to use a triple carb manifold and run only on the center carb it will look and run even better. Dual carbs is the reason the four-barrel needed to be invented. ..B.

I'm running that same basic set up on our '47 Convertible; it's been that way for almost 15 years with Offy deuce intake with two Holly 94's and Offy heads. If you synchronize the carbs, you should have no problems. I’m also running an electronic ignition on the ’47.

The best thing you can do is a set of high compression heads and dual carbs setup right. It will look cool and have more poop. Walt

For an alternate to the dual carb - the Navarro 4V intake + WCFB carb. No need to
synch.

Gotta agree with Ol' Ron. His book and JWL's book are required reading if you're going to make engine modifications. Even if nothing you read changes your mind, I think you'll be amazed at what actually works, why it works and what you get for the money you invest. That said, what you describe makes a good looking engine.

Sharp heads work well for me. In addition I use a two carb manifold. I like the look and I keep my generator (not alternator) in the standard location. As far as
synchronization I put on my trusty stock manifold and run each carb seperately. Then re-install the two carb manifold.

You're two thirds of the way to the traditional Hop Up routine: Finned Heads, Dual Carb's and Extracted exhaust. This was the accepted way back in the day to get a few extra horses out of a stock Flattie. An additional bonus will be, if you set your dual carbs and ignition up just right you will gain an extra five percent in fuel efficiency.
