Well, I put easy off on the inside of my bell housing and attacked the long built up grease dried hard on the surface. It worked amazingly good. One heavy double coat (needed ventilation right away) and waited one hour. I washed it off with water in my slop sink. Like magic it was like new. Clean bare cast metal. Thanks for the heads up and I hope this helps future restorers with their cleaning worries.

I did some old crusted-up baking pans with the same stuff, and my wife was very happy!
Leave it on overnight for even better results. Doug

If you can get your part in a large garbage bag and spray the easy off on the seal the bag up for 24 hours. it will work great. Clean BBQ grills like this all the time.

can you paint the part right away or do you still have to degrease it?

You need to clean all traces of easy-off off the piece or it will cause problems with the new paint.
I usually follow the easy-off with brake-kleen or similar solvent. Soap and warm water work too, but then you'll get flash-rust as it dries. Definitely have to remove any oven-cleaner residue though. SC Frank |
