Default Round Bowl Tilotson

I have a old updraft carburetor made by tilotson that fits right on the intake of my old 31 coupe but it has a slightly larger fuel inlet. It has a round float bowl and a strange needle that is opened by full throttle. Does any one know anything about this carburetor?

It's a Tillotson F1B. There was quite a thread on them a year or two back you might be able to find with search. A fellow at the 1994 Tacoma dual meet gave a talk on rebuilding them and had written an article in Skinned Knuckles about them. Alleged to give excellent mileage due to small jets made useable by that extra gizmo activated at full throttle. No parts are available, I believe.

Do you remember which issue of Skinned Knuckles had the article? I have collected several of these carbs., and would like more info.

I vaguely recall the author's name was Russell Baetke, but that might be totally wrong. I was quite intrigued at the time and went over to the guy's house to chat some more after he gave his presentation. I think he gave me a copy of his article (I'm sort of remembering there were two articles) but I have no idea what became of it. All I know about the SK issue is that it was before the Joint Meet in '94. If you could find the earlier thread, I'm pretty sure that someone chimed in with the exact info.

I have a few Tillotson F1B carbs. These carbs are untested but some look pretty good. If you need one or more I will let some go reasonable and ship priority mail. If interested PM me
