36 front fender welting?

I’m reassembling my 36 and looking for confirmation on correct front fender welting. When I disassembled, there were 3 pieces on each side of black welting with a stainless cap that aligns withe the fender joint. There was no welting on the inner rear part of the fender where it bolts to the lower cowl. Should there be some welting at the rear cowl joint?
