Hi
I'm starting a restoration of my 1934 speedometer and wonder if anyone know what surface threatment Ford used on the dial face of the gauge. I have noticed that the 1933 have somewhat more yellow gauge dials than the 1934. Regards, Daniel |

The faces are frosted silver plate, then printed, then clear coated. The yellowing that occurs is due to the clear coat aging.

According to my '33 -'34 restoration manual their was no consistency on the shade of yellow, they all varied slightly. I have a number of speedos, gas and amp gauges from 33 and 34 cars and they all vary slightly.
