1934 Gauge restoration Hi
I'm starting a restoration of my 1934 speedometer and wonder if anyone know what surface threatment Ford used on the dial face of the gauge. I have noticed that the 1933 have somewhat more yellow gauge dials than the 1934. Regards, Daniel |

Re: 1934 Gauge restoration The faces are frosted silver plate, then printed, then clear coated. The yellowing that occurs is due to the clear coat aging.

Re: 1934 Gauge restoration My 1934 speedo has a decal with kilometres on it. Which has been stuck over the original dial. Not sure where the previous owner got the decal from but it is a perfect match for the other gauges and of course gives me a kph speedo -Karl

Re: 1934 Gauge restoration According to my '33 -'34 restoration manual their was no consistency on the shade of yellow, they all varied slightly. I have a number of speedos, gas and amp gauges from 33 and 34 cars and they all vary slightly.
