Ford 94 Carburetor question

We have a two carburetor set up on a 28 Roadster truck in the shop. On the midway side of both carb's, someone has threaded short bolts into a hole that is about midway up the body. I can not locate a diagram showing what the part should be that really should be in the hole. Can anyone offer a reference to ID the part missing from the carbs???

Looks like the vacuum lines to the 8BA distributor is plugged off on both carburetors . JMHO

I'll write down the model number tomorrow and add it. By looking at some rebuild kits, the hole size is about the size of a power valve. Someone has put 9/16" short bolts into each hole on the side of the carb.

This is someone elses carb photo, but the bolt protruding sideways is the one I am concerned with. What is the hole for??

JimVette is correct. That is where the vacuum advance distributor would connect for a later year car. Holley 94's were used on Ford Y-Blocks up until the mid 50's. Holley 94's are repro'd by Edelbrock today. It would look a lot cleaner if you replaced the bolt with the proper plug.

Like I said those are vacuum ports to the distributor. They have a 1/8th tubing fitting. These are not needed on a Model A.

Bob,

If you cannot find a plug, the fitting is (as Jim posted) for 1/8th inch tubing. It is a compression fitting which should be available at any good auto parts store and if you put a piece of brass rod in & file it flush. (You could solder it in, but the compression nut will hold & seal it fine.)
