We have a two carburetor set up on a 28 Roadster truck in the shop. On the midway side of both carb's, someone has threaded short bolts into a hole that is about midway up the body. I can not locate a diagram showing what the part should be that really should be in the hole. Can anyone offer a reference to ID the part missing from the carbs???
Thanks!

I'll write down the model number tomorrow and add it. By looking at some rebuild kits, the hole size is about the size of a power valve. Someone has put 9/16" short bolts into each hole on the side of the carb.

JimVette is correct. That is where the vacuum advance distributor would connect for a later year car. Holley 94's were used on Ford Y-Blocks up until the mid 50's. Holley 94's are repro'd by Edelbrock today. It would look a lot cleaner if you replaced the bolt with the proper plug.

Bob,
If you cannot find a plug, the fitting is (as Jim posted) for 1/8th inch tubing. It is a compression fitting which should be available at any good auto parts store and if you put a piece of brass rod in & file it flush. (You could solder it in, but the compression nut will hold & seal it fine.) Archie P.S.: See pic below: |
