Default Serial number

Is there a serial number anywhere on a 1932 frame?

If originally a passenger car frame the engine number should be stamped on top of the left frame rail in three places. First is the full number just forward of the foot of the firewall. Second and third exclude the prefix and are hidden from view under the body at the B pillar and rear axle kickup.

If a commercial vehicle frame, only the full number near the left firewall foot is stamped on the frame.

You might find a little more serial number information here: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...ialnumbers.htm

It is found on a pad on the transmission. Therefore it is not an engine number. Many, many transmission and engine changes may have taken place in the last 93 years, so there are a lot of mismatches out there.

Actually 1932 models had no number on the engine. It was on the transmission.

Can the frame number be seen with the fender removed?

Minor addition, the serial number for the 4 cylinder was on the flywheel housing and not the transmission. Of course it was also on the frame like the V8.

From Vanpelts website drawing shows 38-39 but 32 should be the same. I used this to find the number on my ‘41. Mine was light but I cleaned the area and rubbed white chalk over the number.

The picture is kinda wrong for a 32. The front number is right at the firewall foot, the second number is under the B pillar area, and the third number is on the upswing of the rear frame, in front of axle centerline.
