Default Brake Pedal return spring placement

I have just installed a Float-A-Motor kit on my Model A. Previously I hooked the end of the Brake Pedal Return Spring into the hole in the original engine mount. With the kit, I no longer can do that. I am now a tad perplexed as to what/where I now attach the end of the spring.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
John

I wrapped a bit of chain around the engine mount and hooked it onto that.

John - I had the same issue with the FaM. I made a small bracket out of (I think) 1/4” x 3/4” flat stock that bolts onto the engine via the flywheel housing bolt. I then used an eyebolt to attach the spring to this bracket.

It’s time to go through your brake system ! The spring you’re taking about isn’t original or needed if your brakes are working properly. The brake rod return springs need your attention as they pull the brake rods off and in turn all of the linkage to the brake pedal

This may help you. I bought the spring at Home Depot.

Yup. No return spring needed if your brake system works right.

The "helper" spring does do just that. It "helps" with a more positive return of the brake pedal, even when ALL brake parts have been either replaced or restored. I think Ford knew about a weak return system since Ford went to a different brake rod return spring in later part of '31. The Ford update parts didn't end when the Model T was phased out.

I drilled a hole through the float a motor bracket to attach the spring.

I also agree. I like the way the brake pedal comes back and bangs against the floor board. You know they are disengaged. No drag, no question.

Enjoy

See #3 above. I heated up the flat bar in the vise and twisted it to the proper angle. A few back-and-forth until I got the proper compound angle. I also had to use a longer bolt in the flywheel housing. I beveled/rounded the back edge of the gizmo to conform to the round clutch housing casting.

Many thanks for the responses. I am in the process of making a similar set up as suggested by JayJay!
