I have bee told that the VIN would be on the right rail near the exhaust manifold. Are there any other locations to find the VIN on the frame?
Thanks, Jim |

Most times top right frame near the arms. Sometime a little back.
You joked to lift the box for the rear one. |

It's usually under a few layers of paint (and whatever) which can make it harder to locate, before removing the paint so you can actually read it.
Example photo... not a '60 Edsel. Last edited by dmsfrr; 01-13-2024 at 03:34 PM. Reason: better photo? |

Thank for the help. I have been told that it was also stamped on the top side of the right rail in the rear and NOT accessible unless the body is removed. Don't know if this is true or not. I was also told it is NOT on any of the cross members, again not sure about that either.

Yes, a '57 T-Bird.
Depending on the vehicle line, year & model it's my understanding the serial number is 'usually' on top of the right front frame rail between the firewall and front bumper, on mid to late 50's cars. (edit) They were in consistent spots for a given model & year, not just randomly on that frame rail somewhere. Sometime in the early to mid 60's Ford may have changed the serial number location to an entirely different place but I'm not familiar with those at all. .
