Hi I have never had the drivers door sliding lock installed and now that I have installed it I must have done something wrong or something is missing or broken. When the slide is in the locked position I can still turn the outside handel and open the door. What is the slide supposed to contact in the latch assy to make this work and how is it supposed to work when working? It seems like this should be a very simple install so what am I missing?

Sliding lock should push against the door latch as shown by the red arrow.

Something may have gotten bent. Sliding to the left locks, and to the right unlocks.

sometimes the finish bezel that surrounds the lock knob gets installed to far forward or back not letting the slide go far enough to engage the lock. moving the bezel a wee bit sometimes helps.
