Sounds like you've lost some of the adjustment and the clutch is not fully releasing , Check the split bushings in the equalizer shaft and ball .

I would start by checking the clutch adjustment. Pedal free play should be 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Is there any strange noises when you depress the clutch with the engine running? If a rubbing or bumping sound it could be the throw out (release) bearing. If that proves to be the problem it is time to pull the tranny (can of worms). While you have it out if the clutch and pressure plate have been in there awhile replace them also while you have it opened up. (Van Pelt has a complete clutch kit with bearings for under $200). You can then also open up the tranny and take a look at those syncro's.
In the process of doing all this myself. Enjoy the adventure/ |

Some of the later reproduction blocker rings in the synchronizer assembly were not made to the correct dimensions. Also, the bushing on the 2nd gear can wear to a point that it can get sloppy and cause it to shift funky.
Check all the easier stuff first as others have mentioned but a problem may be developing in there. |
