'57 Pickup jammed-up set screw for inside door handle

Okay.....I've moved on from inside door protectant to taking off a very bad inside door handle. The set screw is all jammed up from someone not taking the time to use the proper allen wrench and there is a broken drill bit also in there ! Any secrets on getting the handle off ?

OUCH! It may be time for a saw. Or a die grinder with a saw blade.

Don....yeah ouch........I'm thinking about using my reciprocating saw to cut through the set screw area. I really can't think of anything else to do. We'll sethx

if you can get a cut off wheel in and cut the center of set screw or a die grinder with a pointed bit in the center a recip saw may be to violent maybe try just a hacksaw blade or a dremel tool I would plan on buying a new handle good luck

Kiss the door handle goodbye. An abrasive wheel would be my weapon of choice. You may mar up the regulator a bit but it will work.

Guys thx........it just dawned on me that I do have a Dremel Grinder with several abrasive wheels. I already bought a new door handle along with a door panel I'm going to cover.

Frank and Bob.....

Took my reciprocating saw and cut off the handle grip. Then took my Dremel and cut a deep slot through the center of the set screw.....bingo....the handle fell off !
