Has any one got any experience in using the new coolants that do not use water. They are pricey but do have expanded temperature capabilities and no corrosion problems. The coolants have a longer life than anti-freeze and are not bad for the environment. It sounds too good to be true! Ed

I seem to recall recently there was a thread on 'The Barn" about the use of "the new and improved" coolant where it mentioned all the good stuff plus the engine ran hotter, which is NOT a good thing.

Here is an article on YouTube with Jay Leno talking about Evans Coolant.

No mention was made about freeze protection when using the waterless coolant.

While it is not easy to find, if you go to their WEB site, under product description it shows -40 degree protection. All in all based on what I see, looks like a good deal.

Evans coolants have an expanded temperature range but they do not have the heat carrying capacity of 50/50 antifreeze or water. Your engine will run hotter and may still boil over. There is no substitute for a clean radiator and engine block to prevent overheating.

Again, I don't know what the stuff is made of, but I would suspect freezing is not an issue at all.
