Default Advice on engine/transmission removal

Would you suggest removing the engine/ transmission as a unit, or separate them? Thank you in advance.

I am replacing the engine and rebuilding the transmission, so they will be getting split anyway. Just wondered as to what was suggested.

shove a lifting eye in hole #3 and you have perfect balance and can haul them right out as a unit

this is how the old timers did it. and how we do it
