Does anyone know of a source to obtain the 1928 early 1929 Threaded Gas Tank Strainer? Mine is missing and I would like to add the threaded style to my Tank.

Berts in Denver has a huge collection of good used parts and would be my first try 800-321-1931 . I tried one in the coupe back in the late seventies and didn't like it. The strainer-flame arrester causes problems filling the tank and causes the pumps at gas stations to constantly cut off. In other words it takes forever to put in gas . One guy in the know says that you can knock the bottom out and it will still work as a flame arrester. I quickly removed mine and you seldom see them in service on anybodies model A for the reason mentioned.

I was also interested in finding one, but it sounds like it might be more trouble than it is worth.
Can anyone explain how the strainer acts as a spark arrestor? |

The same principle was used in the miner's "Davy Lamp" and allowed a lantern to be brought into mines laden with explosive gas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_lamp Joe K
