Threaded Gas Tank Strainer

Does anyone know of a source to obtain the 1928 early 1929 Threaded Gas Tank Strainer? Mine is missing and I would like to add the threaded style to my Tank.

Berts in Denver has a huge collection of good used parts and would be my first try 800-321-1931 . I tried one in the coupe back in the late seventies and didn't like it. The strainer-flame arrester causes problems filling the tank and causes the pumps at gas stations to constantly cut off. In other words it takes forever to put in gas . One guy in the know says that you can knock the bottom out and it will still work as a flame arrester. I quickly removed mine and you seldom see them in service on anybodies model A for the reason mentioned.

I was also interested in finding one, but it sounds like it might be more trouble than it is worth.
Can anyone explain how the strainer acts as a spark arrestor?

It has to do with flame propagation. Until the screen temperature exceeds the ignition temperature of the fuel, the flame cannot pass from one side to the other.

The same principle was used in the miner's "Davy Lamp" and allowed a lantern to be brought into mines laden with explosive gas.

We have them. The 1928-1929 and Late 1931 cars used the threaded one. The 1930-early 1931 cars used the two tabbed style.

$40 each (Original ones)
