Default Overrive switch- firewall-

A friend has a butifull 41 Lincoln Zepher with OD. He needs that switch on the firewall that has a couple of wire terminals, what ever you call it. I sure someone knows what I'm talking about. What do you call that thing and does anyone know where to get one? Thanks Walt

Is it the relay or the kickdown switch he's after?
Martin.

The kickdown switch is not on the firewall.

Ok, is it down by the pedal on those. I have seen early overdrive equipped cars with the later firewall mounted switch, behind the throttle linkage. They do seem to work better up there out of all the underside stuff.
It possible in the 70 odd years it has been changed to a firewall switch.
Martin.

I seem to recall that the early Lincolns used the Columbia two speed axle type of OD. If I'm correct, the dash mounted switch would be the Columbia self canceling toggle switch.

When FoMoCo started changing over to remote control shift, the Columbia started to lose out in favor of the Borg Warner electric overdrive in the Lincoln line but I don't have a lot of info about when they changed over. Lincolns always had ther own parts manuals and I only have the ones begining in 1949. Lincoln cars were definitely the first FoMoCo vehicles to get the Borg Warner OD.
