Hey all- I DID the search thing,found a lot of usefull info,but would like some clarification.

.I'm using a 48 rear in my roadster,and have 19'' wheels. The 'hub" of the wheel rests nicelly agains the drum,and have plenty of threads to tighten,but is a spacer required as to not collapse the wheel? I also have early hubs in the front=37-40+,and want my spokes.
Solid wheels seem good to go(40 ford),but Q'ing the spokes because of the back of the wheel(lug/taper) in the hole.
Just do not want to find out the hard way!

I am a HAMB regular.... Just thought this might be the place,as more focussed on A's in general. And yes- those were the spacers that i would be refering to.
What jives with what was my Q.

Here's the rule I've been given: If the drum originally had spoke wheels you can use any year spokes. If you put spokes where you originally had a disk wheel, or disks where you originally had a spoke wheel, you'll need an adapter.

Model A hubs were not flat where the wheel bolts onto, they had a step in them. This step must be matched in order to keep the wheel from flexing and eventually cracking. Putting washers behind each stud is not the answer!

Wish I had known that sooner,as they have been on the 48 Hubs of my 29 Bus Cpe since 1992,same 21" wheels it came with.learn something new every day
