engine dimensions
I have searched for any engineering drawings that show the bolt location dimensions for the model a block. Specifically looking for hole locations to build a holding fixture to hold the block for assembly. I could use the bell housing bolt holes, but prefer to hold from the side. Should be easy to make.

Re: engine dimensions
I have previously made a fixture to mount on the side and connect with a conventional engine stand. If you are interested I could provide pictures and dimensions tomorrow......

Re: engine dimensions
I have a fixture for holding the engine on the side of the block and uses a modern engine stand. You're welcome to use it any time. Gimme a call when you're ready for it.

Re: engine dimensions
I had the good fortune to see an origional KR Wilson repair stand this summer. It mounted the block by the water inlet with a suport down to the top of the oil pan bolts. We came home and made one for our engine stand. We will be using it this week.

Re: engine dimensions
Hi, Here is the fixture I made to mount the Model A block to a conventional engine stand. The water inlet bolts through one member and then two pan rail bolts. The pan bolts are through holes so run the bolts through the angle iron from the top and nut them on the pan rail side. You will have to remove the nuts to install the pan. This mounting approach is some what odd, but
the advantage is that full access to the flywheel and clutch is afforded. Also included a couple of photos in use. This engine was installed with a modern head gasket not requiring sealant, and has worked perfectly since installation. I thought I saw something to this end recently on the forum.... |

Re: engine dimensions
That is neat idea. You do nice work. If I were your neighbor, we’d have to get a keg refrigerator.
Thanks for the pics. |
