I would have to think the shaft fits through the rail, it's already through the frame now. Doesnt the steering gear and sector slide through the rail during installation? I'm wondering if the shaft...

Yes It is an aftermarket frame using the side mounts on the small block chevy. After researching it more I do know now what I didn't know then. I will have to cut the mounts off and weld new tabs...
