I have a 400jr and it is a pita to adjust. I have to measure the clearance then raise the lifter in the bore and adjust by trial and error. So drill the holes if it is not too late.

I put one together that had been filed and a mix of parts. My fuel pressure was too high flooding my Stromberg carburetor. I added 2 extra gaskets to lower fuel pressure.

I did not take out the center bearing when I shortened the torque tube and always thought I made a mistake until now. My lazy mistake may be my oil flow dam.

I used 3/8 and my cold oil pressure is lower than hot pressure indicating to me that the hose should be a little bigger. Pressure is measured after oil is returned to block.

If you can find a large T handle it puts less side load on bolt or stud than a long breaker bar and lets you use two hands to apply even torque.
