Re: Stop Lights 1940 Ford

Don't despair; while wiring can be intimidating, if you look at it one circuit at a time it will be easier understand and proceed.

Re: Difference between 47 & 48 F1 steering box

Sorry; wasn't referring to your post; but the previous one, should have tagged it.

I too always heard the designations being that "commercials" were light and "trucks" were big ones.

Re: Difference between 47 & 48 F1 steering box

What's "commercial"?

Chuck Sea/Tac was asking about pick-up steering boxes.

Something else interesting is that the insides of the boxes are the same.

A good '37-'48 cross steer box can be...

Re: Difference between 47 & 48 F1 steering box

'47 is cross steer like the '35-'48 cars and the '48 F-1 is side steer like the '28-'34 cars.

Re: Stop Lights 1940 Ford

A simple test light goes so much further in looking for electrical issues than guessing or looking for sparks; just saying.

Re: Hot rod steering box

Maybe it is just me; but that doesn't look very good. Did you try adjusting the box before taking it apart to see how worn the gears were?

Re: Early Ford emergency brake cable guide tube replacement.

I make them out of hyd tube; bend them a little, flare the end, and I braze on a washer for the boot stop. Pretty easy process.

At one time, either Cling's or Snyder's made and sold them.

Re: change to hydraulic brakes on a -36

Be aware you will also need to change your front hub/drums to '37-'39 parts if you are going to retain your wide 5 wheels. Your '36 rear drums will work.

As the previous poster stated you can make...

Re: 56 F100 brakes on 37 spindles

These are what I use.

Really doesn't make any difference as long as the ID and OD are correct.

Re: '36 Back Roll-Down Window Install Questions

I won't say I'm an expert on this. The glass channel is one piece a big inverted U. I installed the channel, glass with lower track, and the regulator in one piece, then installed the regulator...

Re: Puttin a key in the drivers door

I think your parts problem revolves around the fact that the passenger door locks were below the handle; while the truck locks were above the handle.

You would need the pieces from a R/H passenger...

Re: Bucket seats for 50 Ford

Not so easy to find seats that both tip forward and still look right in an older car.

Re: 33 Fordoor windshield removal

Unless somebody changed up the interior; removing the header panel does not entail messing with the headliner.

Re: 33 Fordoor windshield removal

Unhook the regulator either by removing the the two screws or driving out the pin. Take out the header panel and remove the two screws from each hinge then lift the bottom edge outward and the frame...

Re: Model B Ford 4 cylinder identification

Rear mounts can easily be added to the '32 rear mount plate or as DavidG mentioned a '33-'34 rear mount plate which has mount tabs can be used instead.

Setting it up with a clutch would prove more...

Re: 33 Window crank and door handle pins (interior)

Re: 1934 Fordor roof

Last '33 we did the compressed paper was 80% gone so we removed the rest of it, then drilled the rivets and removed the thin metal channel that held the paper. It was in good shape so we had it...

Re: Hot rod steering box

Here's a picture of a F-100 box we put in a '32 that may help give you an idea of where it would live.

Re: Hot rod steering box

Looks like the F-100 box in your picture has had the output shaft cut square to fit a Model A pitman arm along with most of the flange cut away.

Re: Bumper bracket identification 1946 ?

Look like the ones on my '47. The rear irons are for the bumpers with inner holes farther apart; not sure the original rear range of that style.

Re: 1936 driver side door latch

Not the best pictures; but the end of the spring sits against the striker and is trapped in place.

Re: sagging drivers door -1936 ford tudorsedan

Check the door gap on the A pillar, if it is uneven bend the hinges to correct.

If it is even, something else has sagged and you probably will need to shim the body to bring the back of the door...

Re: 1936 driver side door latch

Maybe a little clearer picture. The arrow points to the original ears that retain the spring. Many times these ears break off when spread to replace a broken spring. The piece that Deuce posted is a...
