An open box of baking soda will take the odors out of a frig so should work on the moth ball smell. I have used coffee grounds for moldy carpet. Good luck.

GB when I worked in a auto parts they called the fittings on the oil filter lines inverted flare nuts and that line is 1/4 inch.

The length leads me to believe it is a 1955-56 Ford passenger. I have one for a 52-54 but it is 84 1/2 inches long.

Looks like 4 1/8 long and 3/8 to 1/2 inside the housing. The diameter is 3/4.

I would pull the starter like you mentioned. Did you try to turn the engine by hand? starter might be locked up.

The starter plate from the Mercury will fit the cast truck housing the difference being the truck is recessed for the dicast seal that bolts on the last two oil pan bolts. If you don't use the seal...

You have a 35-36 mount on the transmission and a 37-40 mount on the frame. You need to change the rear mount on the transmission.

If it's still a stock 35 spring it will be attached to the wishbone in front of the axle so it will probably have some tension on it. Use a spring spreader to hold everything in place or porta power...

You have to pull the switch toward you to collapse the spring that seats against the inside of the dash. Rotate until the grooves line up and release.

Try the hose clamp around the bushing. It works just like the piston ring compressor as you drive the bushing in. I ruined two before I tried the clamp.

Last time I did one with a driver I put a hose clamp around the outside to keep it from collapsing the split bushing. worked great.
