Re: 5-speed in a '56 sedan?
A fox body 5.0 powered five speed has a 3.35 first gear. That would certainly wake up a 6 cyl. car. The only drawback is the shifter is at the rear of the tail housing. Unless you go to bucket...

Re: Part recognized?
With that mounting bracket it looks like a C4DZ-17664-B, 1964-65 Falcon, Fairlane and Ranchero

Re: 56 f100
I've been down that road in the past. Bought a '56 F100 with a 327 engine, and it was a typical Chev, the cam was flat, the guides were worn out and the rear main thrust was wasted. Did the best...

Re: 1956 Fairlane on Assembly Line
I remember seeing that picture in a social studies book when I was in the 3rd grade, 1959. If you look at the car behind this convertible, you'll see it too has the front clip installed.
As far...

Re: Fake 'R' code Galaxie?
I had a '64 Z code (390) Galaxie, the tag was on the door and the body stamped VIN was like your picture.
Most likely the door tag in the photo had been removed when the door was repainted. It...

Re: 88 Ford Ranger
If it is an '88, 2.3 it's a DOHC engine with a plastic intake manifold. The manifolds did crack, creating a vac leak, that usually won't throw trouble code. Sometimes you can find a vac leak with...

Re: Spark Plug Wires
I have never had good luck with pre-made plug wires, some are perfect in length and the next one is a 1" short. I buy the cable in bulk and the correct ends and make my own, one at a time and then...

Re: Are Mustangs still collectible?
A 351W or a Cleveland is a fairly easy bolt in for a '67 to '70 Mustang. You'll need a different exhaust H pipe, but the same motor mounts as the small block originally had. The perch plates from a...

Re: 1956 ford Power Steering
Actually the kit I used came from Fatman Fabrications, they are still in business. However, they did discontinue the kits sometime ago. As mentioned I think the EPS idea is great.

Re: 9 Inch Center Section
Google it, there are dozens of places to buy a rebuilt 9" third member. New stuff is available, gets pretty spendy, Currie Enterprises sells new custom units. Ford doesn't manufacture any parts...

Re: 1956 ford Power Steering
I think EPS is great and a good project that can be done fairly cheap. My only concern is when you get done you'll probably still have a sloppy/worn out steering gear box

Re: 1956 ford Power Steering
Take a look at Borgeson Universal Company. p/n 800115. This is a full power box, not a R & P system and no draglink assist. It's designed to fit a '52-'64 full siize Ford. It's going to take...

Re: 1956 ford Power Steering
I did a R & P setup about 20 years ago, worked ok, but as mentioned the turning radius was terrible, took a football field to turn a circle

Re: Anyone had dealings with CJ Pony parts??
About 15 years ago I bought a bunch of stuff for a '65 Mustang. I was disappointed in the quality, some of it was not what I ordered. I gave up trying to get them to take it back. You are correct...

Re: Vacuum Advance Question
What kind of a carb do you have that doesn't have a venturi vac port? A '57 dist. has a straight arm out of the vac unit, where the later dual diaphram unit has a curved arm

Re: 427 Tunnel port value
If it truly is a cross bolted side oiler block, with the main caps and spacers and with a standard bore. All 427 blocks have thin cylinder walls, in most cases .020 is as far as you'll safely bore...

Re: Edlebrock Carburetor on 1957 312
You probably won't find a 100% direct bolt on carb other than what it came with. The Edelbrocks and Holleys are universal, you'll must likely have to make some alterations, neither would be a big...

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci
Th oil pump drive shaft is 5/16" on the 351W, it likely hasn't "rounded" out like the smaller 1/4" shaft of an FE or 302. It makes no sense to start tearing this thing down or even changing the oil...

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci
Before getting too excited, hook up a mechanical gauge and see what you really have for oil pressure. Ford electric gauges are basically for looks, far from accurate.
If your engine is a pre...
