Re: Over Drive Transmission bushing
Rear bushings!……ahh the stories I could tell. And that’s with the tail housing removed. There was a run of the bushings that was made incorrectly, requiring additional honing of the inside diameter....

Re: Over Drive Transmission bushing
The tool shown may or may not be successful in removing the bushing from the tail housing (which is still attached to the transmission). We always have the housing off when taking the bushing out,...

Re: Anyone have one they can measure?
The 3/4” tube only came in one length. It’s definitely a tiny bit smaller in diameter at the end that fits into the lower part end of breather stand. I recommend using a bit of lock tight at that...

Re: steering box
If you can take the unit apart, you’ll be able to confirm the sector roller (2 or 3 lobes) and the specific worm ( a 2 or 3 digit number stamped into the end of the worm). That’s going to be the most...

Re: steering box
I believe that Ford sold the worm and shaft as one item. We have the worm available by itself and, in some cases, we have the worm and shaft as well. There was a change of some sort in the 1956 Ford...

Re: 40 gearset in a 46 pu case
FYI……Will Kimble has been an integral part of our transmission rebuild team here for over ten years, so his advice here is based on mucho experience. That mainshaft, as he states, is badly worn out...

Early Ford 3 speed trans in a crate

Re: 47 Tonner pickup Tranny 4speed
Sometimes I feel like a broken record on this issue. Please don’t use a hardened pin or drill stock for this part. You want the cheapest and easiest to replace part to be the pin……not the shifter...

Re: Clutch Release Shaft Bushing tool
You can use an old slender tipped screwdriver….one that you’ve already pounded on before, and work the tip against the edges of the old bushing. Drive down to force the bushing inward. Generally,...

Re: NEW products available thread
We didn’t have a large quantity made for the first time….. wanted to see how they fit and get an idea of what the demand would be before we have more made. I’m very happy with the fit.

Re: Transmission Main Shaft ID Needed
Don’t forget the possibility of this main drive gear being the B-7017 which is the 1932-34 version. The following links to our website pages will make this more clear to you.

Re: 8RT vs Early 24-stud Length
The spacing issues have more to do with the cooling fan structure on the front of the engine….the front edge of the 49-53 fan blade is going to be situated closer to the radiator than the various...

Re: Borg Warner Overdrive Slip Yoke
I question the 31 spline count on the slip yoke. All of the Ford light duty 3 speed transmissions, including the R10 overdrive, had 16 splines on the output shaft.
For the slip yoke to slide on...

Re: Ultra Sonic Cleaner
The degreasing process is going to vary according to the level of grease buildup on the parts and the amount of precleaning you do. Many of the transmission parts we want to clean are heavily coated...

Re: Starter Drive Gear
Use 32-47 flywheels on 32-47 engines. Use 49-53 flywheels on 49-53 engines. Don’t mix the two styles as the starter ring gear offset is different.
I purposefully kept 1948 engines from the above...
