Re: Pt 2 Model A oil filter test
Just for conversation sake, how much oil leeched into the valve chamber during the test? This would tell just how much oil is directed through the filter.

I am still open
Just a quick note to let everyone here know that I am still operating and don't know why Google lists my business as "Perminately Closed". I can assure everyone that I am very much open and working....

Re: V8 Clutch Bolt Pattern
The bolt pattern diameter is 10.375. The holes are 120 degrees apart with a separation of 32 degrees between the two diameters.

Re: Hoof head
I have one exactly like that. Nice head with a high compression but is extremely heavy. Probably a third heavier than a stock head. Until now, mine is the only one I have ever seen.

Re: Hole in water jacket
Permatex #2. It does not get hard and will stop the seepage. I find many blocks that have the head studs drilled or rusted into the water jacket and this works unbelievably well. Does not harden to...

Re: Timing puzzle
How much rotational play do you have in the distributor cam when in the motor? Are you running a stock original cam, regrind, or a new cam? The gear on a stock or reground cam all have some wear on...

Re: Help rear main leak
Sounds like the builder didn't know how to rebuild the B engine. The pump in an A or B has the capability of as much as 100 PSI but without any restriction in the system, it won't push but about 2/3...

Re: Two piece crank shaft pulley
Cast iron pulleys fail from using pry bars to install or remove the engine. I use lots and have several originals that are perfect except for the seal area being worn. I don't see any reason why a...

Re: Mail Truck Engine Noise
I would drop the pan and inspect the bearings and check the clearance. The last 2 engines in my shop had bad bearings and a pronounced knock at higher RPM's. One had a bad rod bearing and showed...

Re: Tight Bearings
After adjusting the bearings to the correct clearance, this is often the case. Put it in and run it. After a couple of minutes it will work as before but with better clearances.

Re: Main bearing bolts
People, these are not high speed, high RPM, high HP engines. Don't overthink it. Fords bolts have worked for 100 years and more. Why change them?

Re: Timing Gear Back Lash
This would only happen with aluminum cam gear. Fiber gears won't be noisy with .060 clearance. I have seen this. You probably need to check the valve adjustment or bearing clearance.

Re: Fuel pump
I have found that a 12 volt pump from NAPA will produce about 2-3 # pressure when connected to 6 volts. It works fine and won't over pressure the float.
I have done it many times.

Re: Oil Leak
I have never seen the oil leak from the rear main bolts. You have to check the thrust clearance on the rear main along with the crankshaft/bearing clearance. If the thrust is over .012 you will have...

Re: Main bearing oil leak
Originally there was no seal in the rear main. The seal that the vendors sell are modern "fixes" for leakers that don't work. I have found engines that have had ropes installed in the grooves that...

Re: Main bearing oil leak
Oil is controlled by bearing clearance only. If the bearing needs shims removed that will cause a leak. If the bearing clearances out between .002 and .0015 it is probably the thrust. You can check...
