Stan , this is the one that came in the wood box. Sadly, it's no longer being made. However, the pullers mentioned above work just fine.

Re: rear brake drum puller
I ordered the Vintage Precision puller. I was truly amazed at the high quality of this tool. When was the last time you unpackaged a new purchase and it far exceded your expectations? Worked as good as it looked. They really should make a king pin removal tool based on the old KR Wilson type.

Here's the one you're talking about, and the one that I chose. They show-up on eBay with some regularity.

Re: rear brake drum puller
I always say if a hub comes off with a puller other than the ones mentioned, it wasn't tight enough!

Re: rear brake drum puller
TO Marts point
AND can of "worms" now open......ANYONE with the vintage precision puller notice in the directions 125ft Lbs of torque is the MAX suggested for pulling a hub......AND Isn't 200ft Lbs the recommended torque for the installation of the drum???? Quite the difference Kube & 38FordV8 Tomato Tomotto Right?? Only difference is Vintage Precision is basicaly "On Demand". K R Wilson most likely NOT so much!!! Re: rear brake drum puller
I didn't notice the VP instructions stated 125 ft lbs. I'm normally fearing for my mortal life when winding it up! I'm glad there is a nut on there or the hub might take the wall out!
Nice job Wat-0! |

Is this correct for 36? It doesn’t fit on my 37. Bought it years ago for a 36 but never used it.

Re: rear brake drum puller
Tim
Here is a photo from vintage precision's web page, as you can see, the cap that screws onto the axle end and you push against, has a long slot that it can slide in for short OR long snout hubs!!!!! As it states, it will pull from Model A's to 48 V8's!!!! |

Re: rear brake drum puller
FYI
The New Vintage Precision hub puller will not work on a hub that has a protruding ring as my 37 has. Zeke |

Re: rear brake drum puller
I had that problem on my 38 too. I called them and they recommended sanding off some of the surface roughness on the ring. Worked like a charm.
