Re: Best cover for the money
Glenn really do your homework on this . I purchased a Cal cover some years ago , they have several but only 1 could be machine washed which just happens to be the most expensive 1. I must say I have been very happy with it !

Re: Best cover for the money
I've used California Car Covers for many years. I think they are the best and have different covers to suit your specific needs. I had them silk screen the Early Ford
V-8 Club logo on all my covers. |

Re: Best cover for the money
Another vote for California Car Covers. I have an Ultraweave for my '32. It's machine washable, drys very fast, and is the most compact cover they offer, important for cars with limited storage.

Re: Best cover for the money
I have used covers from California Car Covers for over twenty years. I prefer the "Ultraweave" for general use.. It works great outdoors, and in the garage it protects the car finish from minor scrapes, etc that can occur in the garage.
From time to time I have tried other brands of car covers, trying to save a buck.. As a general rule the cover lasts a year or so, then falls apart..

Re: Best cover for the money
Hello Everyone, Glenn, I inherited two identical car covers from Classic Accesssories, and I'm not really satisfied with the durability, although I'll have to raise my hand that I may have contributed with "user-error".
What I have is really an indoor cover, which is what I'm usually using it for. It also does okay as a 'dew' cover for overnights outside protecting my convertible top. What I would look for is something more substantial that the 'fabric' CA uses. A MUST-HAVE for me would be some type of reinforcement at the nose where the cover rides over the V8/Greyhound. I'll either add one myself, or look for a cover that already has it. Good to read your posts!

Re: Best cover for the money
Check out cover craft, They manufacture many different covers for several vendors nation wide, they are Made in Oklahoma U.S.A . Covercraft made good on a cover I purchased from california car covers that would in no way fit my car and could not get it replaced with a suitable cover from the place I bought it!

Re: Best cover for the money
Fordestes, I've never seen a California Car Cover that did not fit. Why didn't it fit and did it have the California Car Cover logo on the front? Did you buy it direct from California Car Covers? I'm curious as they have a good reputation for customer service. Why would Covercraft make good on a cover that was not theirs?

Re: Best cover for the money
Try Costco. It won't show up in their on line ordering but call their supplier and talk to them.

Re: Best cover for the money
Mine is indoor use only - Cotton lined "Plushweave" - Features added included the color Black, front and rear V8 logos, smaller mirror pockets and a larger rear license plate pocket - mine is for stock body including rear spare and full bumpers. I believe I paid neighborhood of $300.

Re: Best cover for the money
Keep in mind that the materials that California Car Covers sells are available elsewhere for usually less cost.
I've never had an issue with any of the Covercraft covers I've purchased, and wouldn't be surprised if Covercraft manufactured the covers for the other private labels.

Re: Best cover for the money
Another vote for Costco... In my opinion, an indoor cover doesn't have to do much. Works for me.
I have a Costco cover on one car, and the much more expensive CA Car covers on two other cars. I don't see the need for 'expensive' for indoors. JMO |

Re: Best cover for the money
Let me add another cover maker to your list. I have covers for my '35 and '36. Both covers were custom made by the Canvas Shoppe (Flint, MI). They are canvas with a flannel lining. They are heavy. You can install it by yourself but having some "help" makes life more simple. What I like about these covers is that they are truly weather proof and really protect the car. A bike could fall on the cover without causing harm to the car. As I recall, the cost was less than what California Cover was asking for their mid-grade cover.

Re: Best cover for the money
TJ ,
all I can say is the cover did not fit and wasnt's exactly cheap ( AROUND $300 + .TO THE BEST of my recollection) which included the lock etc. It would not fit, after some research I found out they sent me a cover for a mustang GT. and none was available for my Roush Mustang, someone must have assumed it would work for both, a lot of difference, I strongly believe that the first cover was made by covercraft and retailed to me by c.c.c, I could not get it replaced so I put it back in the box and stuffed it in the attic for several months, I went to walmart and bought a china manufactured one in the $20 price range, during the S.E.M.A show I became acquainted with cover craft. nevertheless the problem was solved without any issues, I am in no way discerditing anyone or their business. as mistakes do happen,The question was asked as to ones preference , and I voiced mine. Good day, |

Re: Best cover for the money
scicala-
Yup. Were talking "bike" as in bicycle NOT motorcycle. Their advertisement states it and I believe it. I have been using their covers for years. They are heavy and have not caused any physical or paint damage to the car. Much of their work is making boat covers which are called upon to take a beating and survive. |

Re: Best cover for the money
Glenn, I am considering the purchase of a cover as well. Prices are also, as you may already have discovered, from $20 to over $500. I bought one off eBay. Low priced & not worth 10% of that! Sent it back. Called CoverCraft (1-800-423-8677) & asked for samples of the materials they use for the different covers they make. Very pleasant & they sent 19 3" X 3" swatches PROMPTLY. It helps having the swatches in hand as covers run the gamut from what is (essentially) paper, to 7 "layer" flannel lined water proof. A description doesn't clarify things as much as being able to touch the material. As Fordestes stated, CoverCraft covers are "Made in the USA". I have balked at dropping the kind of money it costs for a quality car cover, but will pry it loose sooner or later! lol Good luck Glenn! Larry

Hi Everyone! Glenn, I was reading your question on the aluminum cylinder heads, but didn't have anything helpful to contribute.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...t=glennsanders Did you make a decision on a cover?

Re: Best cover for the money
I got a California Car Cover on Craigs List. The vehicle I own is a 1939 Ford pickup. I looked for some SUV covers and settled on a Lincoln Suv cover. I bought it for $35.00 and it fits perfect even down to the pockets for the side view mirrror.

Re: Best cover for the money
I pretty much gave up on car covers. I've had the cheapies to the spendy flannel lined(vette) covers. Every one of my vehicles had dust underneath the cover when left for long periods of time. Now I just hose them off or wash(seldom) & dry. I'm also done with bras,,for vehicles not humans, that cove the front end. Should you do much driving be aware that dirt & grime get under the bra & can raised hell with the finish. I'll take the rock chips, badges of honor from being driven.
