Had a guy try to sell me this today
Had a guy come to my work today to try and sell me this. I'm thinking about it. But don't like his price. It's pretty rusty but has good doors. What y'all think.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Is it the house or the car or both -- see house doors near the porch?
Look around at MAFCA cars for sale, Bert's, & ebay for going prices to get an idea of pricing -- find a Model A club in your area & ask for advice -- potential ??? -- my 2 cents, it is only worth the amount you can sell it for tomorrow. |

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Might add:
Called a trucker who advertised in Hemmings Motor news a few years ago who transported hundreds of vintage vehicles. Asked about transporting a Model A advertised from another state. His advice while never seeing this add was: If you want sound advice, they always sell for a lot less than the original asking price, & even less than the "reduced" asking price. My guess, with your time, (even at at $20.00 per hour), plus needed parts, you will pay double or triple for what can be bought in much better shape -- even a good one will need lots of hobby work -- but each to his own. Glad I received this same advice a few years ago -- lots of Model A's in Google & elsewhere in far better shape -- now, if you are 18 - 21 years old -- makes a "World" of difference. Just hope this helps. |

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Does it run? If it runs make get him to 1700 to 2k, that wouldn't be bad. Does he have the missing rear door or any other pieces to go with it?

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Seems like a lot for a fordor in that condition. I see a chassis, hood and fenders and not a lot more than that. Just my opinion. Keep in mind I am not partial to fordors, so my opinion is alittle slanted towards it just bein a pile of parts for somethin else. Rod

I was thinking 1,000 or a little more. It would be for parts. I have a good cab and bed.to go on it.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
$1500 would be fair if the engine/trans/chassis were complete.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
That's a coupe. That is why it's up to that much. And is probably in better shape. This sedan came from the coast. And has its share of rust that we don't get in this area.

$1,000-$1,500 sounds fair. If you buy it I'll give ya $10 for the spray bombed hubcaps!

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
It is a slant body so the wood is only the top and interior tack strips. Not so bad to do.
I missed the three hinges, this is a straight window body!!! The open window and no visor threw me off. Title is worth a few hundred dollars. The body is worth a few hundred and chassis is worth a few hundred. Does not quite get to $1000 unless the fenders happen to be super super nice then the fenders could be worth some $$. It is a wood body and a nightmare to rebuild. Last edited by Kevin in NJ; 06-06-2013 at 05:50 AM. |

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Is it a 30 or 31 ? Not that it makes much difference. It looks like a 31 to me, but... It does look fairly complete, but, the chassis looks rusty as heck. It looks like a $1K item to me, but, I guess I'm cheap.
